Hello friends, hello July, and Happy Canada Day to all of my Canadian friends!
Who’s ready to welcome in another fabulous month?
I’m glad you all seemed to enjoy reading over the goals that I set for myself for June and how I did at achieving them.
Personally, I loved setting those goals for myself at the beginning of the month and then reviewing them once the month was over. Writing down my goals and sharing them with you at the beginning of June made me accountable and pushed me harder to achieve them. Looking back on them yesterday made me realize how much I actually did accomplish and it felt so good!
I’m not perfect, so I didn’t achieve all of the goals I set for myself; however, that didn’t cause me to beat myself up over it either.
I like reminding myself to focus on what I can do and did do rather than what I can’t and didn’t do.
Focus on the good, your achievements, and how far you’ve come and you’ll be a much happier person
Since I enjoyed setting goals for myself in June so much, I thought I’d do the same for July:
Do 1 unassisted pull up
I have accomplished a chin up in June and I feel as though unassisted pull ups are the next step! I did a back workout yesterday and am getting very close, but I still have a ways to go!
Share 5 meatless recipes on my blog
There are five Mondays in July, so I plan on sharing one meatless recipe each Monday
Here is a sneak peak of tomorrow’s recipe!
Try a class at the gym
This didn’t happen last month, but I decided to add it to my list of goals again. Clearly, I really want to try a class! My gym offers a variety of different classes and there are a few that I would love to try out! The three classes that have caught my eye are:
- Yoga
- Cardio kickboxing
- Kettlebell conditioning
Participate in Katie’s Photo a Day
I love Katie and everything she does is marvelous, so I really want to show my support and take part in her photo a day since I enjoyed the May photo a day challenge so much!
Go kayaking
This is another goal that didn’t get accomplished in June; however, I will make it happen this month! In Saskatchewan. the weather is more “summer-like” for the months of July and August.
Try your recipes
I did this last month and it was so much fun! I have a lot of trouble following a recipe because I easy become inspired and then create something of my own; however, when I wrote this goal down last month I actually followed a few recipes and they turned out wonderful! My favourite recipe was Lauren’s Instantaneous Steel Cut Oats! Thanks Lauren for introducing me to a new breakfast! <3
Read the Bible daily
I am a member of YouVersion and love reading scriptures from the Bible daily. This online Bible study group has really helped me develop a closer relationship with God, so I will continue doing this.
Read a book
In June, I read The Magic by Rhonda Byrne (I will be doing a recap of this book later on this week), so now I need a new book! I know so many of you are readers and read books like it’s your day job, so if you have any recommendations that you think I would like let me know!
Have a Mother-daughter movie night
My Mom and I love movie nights, but we haven’t had our traditional movie night since I have been home for the summer yet! Our traditional movie night takes place on a Thursday night when my Dad works until 9:00 pm. We watch The Stepmom and eat pancakes while we are watching
Mani’s and pedi’s usually take place, as well
Paint my room
I want to redecorate my room which results in painting it a new colour! Currently, it is painted periwinkle blue. I chose this colour when I was 14; I think it is in need of a change!
Don’t be surprised if I paint it purple. You know that’s my favourite colour
Kind of creepy that the pillow has an “M” on it; maybe it is meant to be?
Take a trip
I’m not talking a Barbados type of trip, but I have so many friends that I would love to take a road trip with or people that live in other cities that I would love to spend a weekend with! Whether it is a weekend spent with my Grandma who lives a few hours away or a road trip with one of my friends to do what girls do best – shop – it is my goal to make this happen this month!
Invest in either a maxi dress or coloured jeans (or both!)
These are two pieces that I have been wanting for a long time now and I think July is the month to make the purchase! I’m leaning more towards the maxi dress, though. I think it’s more appropriate for summer
Being OK with not being perfect
Perfectionism is something that I have always struggled with. Despite the fact that I do not struggle wit perfectionism nearly as much as I did in the past, there is still room for improvement! I need to learn that is is OK if my post is published later than usual (like today!), if my studies take over my ;pie for blog reading and I need to click “mark all as read” on my overwhelming Google Reader, or if my chooses to do something funky that even the hair straightener cannot fix. I’m not perfect and I will never be perfect, so why stress over trying? This month is a month to shrug imperfect moments off and carry on
Some of the goals that I made last month will also carry over to this month. I think that being more patient, making more time for friends, getting 7 – 8 hours of sleep each night, and stretching daily are all coming more naturally to me, but they are still something that I want to make sure and continue doing this month.
I have a feeling July is going to be a great month
I’m even starting it off with accomplishing one of my goals!
A meatless Monday recipe for you tomorrow! It’s a tasty one, so make sure you stop by tomorrow
Have a great first of July!
Love,
Meg
xoxo

Great goals again! I really loved sharing my relaxation goals on my blog, because any time I think of slacking on my stretching, I remind myself that I have my blog to keep me accountable!
fantastic goals meg!! love that you’re going to continue to do some of the things you started in June
As for a book, have you read Life of Pi? I have trouble focusing on reading – I just don’t like to sit in one spot and read for very long I guess? lol – but this book, I seriously couldn’t put it down!! And I can’t wait to see how you do with letting go of some perfectionism – I definitely have much that same problem and it really weighs me down sometimes, I’d like to get rid of that need too!
Thanks for the suggestion babe
I love seeing everyone goals today!!! You have some awesome ones Meg but my favorite is your last goal about perfectionism too! I have the exact same problem and really tend to struggle and drive myself crazy sometimes trying to be perfect! For the month of July I want to focus on going with the flow a little more, letting things happen as they will, and not trying to do everything and anything I can! I think we will rock this July goal!!!
We most definitely will Danielle
<3
The last one I love, that is something I take on myself as well. I am really intrigued by those sweet potato pancakes, I mean seriously they look delicious. I love the idea of sharing five non-meat recipes, I am always looking for some inspiration like that. I am hoping to do a photo a day… again another attempt.
Good luck on your goals sweetie xoxo
ps mother daughter date night is bomb!
Oooo I like your goals! I think I’m totally going to have to do something like this. It is pretty fab. I wish I could paint my room, but at my new apartment we aren’t allowed to, so sad. Mother-daughter movie night= so cute. Why are you so awesome?
YOU are the awesome one
Those are awesome goals! I’m loving You version too! Except when I miss a day and then it reminds me I’m missing out. haha But it is great accountability! Have a great day!
Every one of those sound GREAT! You are going to keep yourself busy this month haha. I know you will do awesome though! I love that purple room. So pretty and definitely “you”. Go for it!!!
These are all such great goals, I am loving the goal to read the bible daily, and having a mother-daughter movie night! I have made goals for july, but I’m sharing them during a post on Wednesday
One of them though is to learn a piano song, because it has been ages since I have and I used to really enjoy it!
I am looking forward to reading your goals sweetie
xo
I love colored jeans! My sister wanted me to get a pair but now I reallyyyy want one. Congrats on the unassisted pull up!!
I love all your July goals! Isn’t the You Version app amazing? I adore it!
my fave color is purps, too!!! and you definitely need to own a maxi dress — they’re the best! Also — didn’t know about online bible studies until recently — LOVE THAT. TOO!!
PS: roadtrip to SEATTLE!!!
Seattle is on the list
Some day babe. SOME DAY <3 You know I want to meet my girl
Awesome goals! I can’t wait to see what recipes you share for Meatless Monday.
Whatever you made in that photo looks yummy!
Some of my goals for July are:
- Go camping and hiking
- Make more food (instead of eating out so much!)
- Read the Bible daily (I think this is a great goal, Meg!)
… and a bunch of others that I better write down before I forget! I’m looking forward to reading about your July accomplishments!!
Thanks Pluvk! Your goals are wonderful, too
TAKE A TRIP TAKE A TRIP TAKE A TRIP! Sorry about that, but I just thought I’d suggest you visit the US’s finest midwest town… St. Louis! Just sayin’… I can promise there would be tea………….
hehe love you and these goals look great!!
HAHA you always make me smile
I am pretty sure I would come to your door step if we weren’t meeting in Boston baby girl
Great goals girl! I have a lot of similar ones – go canoeing, try a class at the gym, go on a day trip somewhere… and a bunch more!
You should definitely try out a maxi dress – I just bought a maxi skirt last month and I love it!
you would look SO cute in a max skirt babe
Meg!
You are going to accomplish those goals
You are strong, beautiful, and determined!
Love the room, I think the mirror above the bed is fabulous and I love the wall color! So you!
Happy Monday beautiful friend!
Hello love!! Your goals are great! I am the Queen of Maxi dresses this summer – but I do have a favorite that I have been rocking. It is light and airy – and I am LOVING the colors. http://store.alloy.com/item.do?itemKey=171364&_QQ=8-538&cmpid=prodlink
MEGHAN! I love your maxi dress! Gosh! You are such a fashionista! I want to go shopping with my girl
I cheat… people.com… “Get their look for less”… Jessica Biel was wearing a similar much more expensive version lol
But I am an excellent shopper – who always gets a bargain! We’d have a blast!
awesome goals meg! i thought that pic of the room WAS your room due to the M pillow, haha. i was like, why do you want to change a THING about that room, it’s awesome. the purple = you would! i agree with your maxi dress sentiments. save the colored jeans for fall and winter when you need brightening in your mood against that dang cold! to get some great book recs check out my goodreads “read” list and just see my 5-star rated books!
Thanks babe
I am definitely going to read a book that YOU suggest because I love you that much
I love adding one meatless meal a week! I’m trying to eat fish at least once a week (fish is a new thing for me – I used to hate all fish!). Also, I participate in Peanut Butter Finger’s book club and ever since I started, I’ve been reading not only one, but usually two or three books each month. I used to not even read one. Somehow it’s been motivating me to read more and I love it!
So proud of you for reading more AND eating more fish! That’s awesome Caroline!
Lovin those goals! You have inspired me to make some goals of my own
You should definitely try cardio kickboxing. I do it at my gym a couple times a month, and lemme tell you, it is a major kick in the bootay. However, it is an AWESOME workout and duper fun none the less!!
Love these!! The last recipe I tried was from Gina @ Running to the kitchen – her Watermelon Bacon Salad. It was Ah-MAZING!!! Here’s the write-up/link if you want to try it too
http://nosugarsweetlife.com/content/sale-papers-watermelon-bacon-salad
Awesome goals! Are you doing wide grip pullups? Those slay me!
Can’t wait for that meatless recipe. Your pear-ginger smoothie idea was SO good.
P.S. I think you’re pretty perfect. XOXO
Haha YES wide grip! I did the chin ups now working on unassisted pull ups! They are tough girl! SO TOUGH!
p.s. I think YOU are the perfect one
te he
I’m working on those too. SO hard! We can do it though!!!
I need to redecorate too! I keep wanting to just move into a new apartment because I’m bored with this one, but a makeover could be just what I need!
Best of luck with your goals this month darling! I especially love the last one, Being OK with not being perfect. This is something I need to work on myself.
I love the maxi dress you picked out! I have one but it is very colorful; I want a solid one. I’m also watching a pair of Kensie light pink jeans at Macy’s to go on sale….they are $70 right now, and I can’t justify it on a trend. Come on summer sale!
Hahaha gotta love the sales Kalee
I wish we could go shopping together for dresses! <3
I am so glad you picked the steel cut oats as your favorite! I don’t own a maxi dress, but I do own some sea green capris that I love! I like the maxi dress you picked out. Orange is one of my favorite colors and Blake Lively looks good in just about anything.
If I had coloured jeans I would want them to be sea green! haha!
Great goals! I actually just wrote a post with mine. The biggest one is to eat more veggies
I LOVE your goals, Meg! Especially the vow to embrace your imperfections. You are incredibly perfectly imperfect! I LOVE YOU and I LOVE your goals. Most of all, I love how you’re still working on some of them.
I love your goals you have set for yourself! I know you’ll do great things this month! I definitely need to work on the bracing my imperfections, we can challenge this one together:) Love youxo
Great goals, i find pull ups 10x tougher then chin ups though – i can do chins, i feel like i’ll never do an unassisted pull up though!
Practice & persistence
