07/11: WIAW

by Meg on July 11, 2012

Good morning loves! I missed you yesterday, but am so happy to see that you all enjoyed Jessica’s guest post! Isn’t she great!? I just can’t get enough of that girl! I am so proud of her for making her presence known within the healthy living blogging community! :)

Speaking of guest posts, head on over to the lovely Heather’s blog today (after reading this post of course ;) ) because I wrote a guest post for her today! It’s a meatless recipe for all of you vegetarian foodies out there (or for those of you like me who enjoy plant based protein sources from time to time! :)

My Mom and I made it to London safely and have all sorts of fun planned for today, but I will fill you in on that more tomorrow! ;)

However, I do want to say that one of my first stops when we made it to London was to DAVIDsTEA. I had a couple of teas to lessen the withdrawal symptoms ;)

Today is WIAW, so why don’t be start the celebration now!? :)

I love the Food & Fitness theme that Jenn has created for July! Last week, I posted a workout and a recipe for you to try and I was excited to hear that some of you tried the workout! I know it left my girl Linz with a shaky upperbod ;)

For this week’s WIAW, I was planning on posting a bodyweight circuit workout vlog that I recorded on Saturday using a step outside in my backyard; however, for the past couple of days technology has not been on my side and I have lost the video. It just vanished. So, unfortunately, there is no video for you to watch today, but there still is a workout for you to try!

This is the same workout that I filmed myself doing, but just the written version.

Now, after completing this workout, you must refuel those wonderful bodies of yours!
Personally, I like consuming a protein shake immediately after my workouts followed by a solid meal a little later on. This post is a great example of what I eat in a day if you would like to see!

My favourite fruits have to be berries! So I came up with this Raspberry Cheesecake Protein Shake to satisfy my love of berries after a sweaty gym session!

1 scoop vanilla protein powder
¼ cup cottage cheese
1 cup raspberries
½ – 1 cup milk/water
ice

Blend and chug! Ok, don’t chug. Savour ;)

Tomorrow I am announcing my very first giveaway! I’m so excited! Don’t miss out!

Have a great day, friends!

Do you like working out outside?

Do you enjoy when I share workouts?

What is your favourite berry? I really cannot choose. For one second I will say blueberries and the next I will say raspberries! Both are so incredible! I love blueberries in baked goods or floating around in cold milk and I love smashing up raspberries on a piece of toast!

Love always,

Meg
xoxo

I love running outside! Last week I ran at the gym on a treadmill and have decided I will avoid the treadmill unless I have no other choice.

Strawberries and blueberries are my favorites!

My favorite berry would probably be raspberries – but cherries are my favorite summer fruit! :)

I love taking my workouts outside. Today I went on a trail walk and it was the most refreshing time! Being out in nature always helps clear my mind and relax me. Your workout sounds awesome girl!

I’ve only just started doing my workouts outside because the weather in Washington is finally nice! I like the change of scenery since I’ve become used to doing my workouts in the house.

Mmm…I LOVE raspeberries! I had them this morning with baby spinach and olive oil. They make me like the spinach!

And I adore working outside. Our CrossFit box takes WODs outside whenever possible…and with the weather today, looks like we’ll be outside tonight for “Helen.” Yay!

I love all berries!! I’d probably say blackberries are my favorite, but that’s also probably because I don’t get to eat them very often!

Carrie @ Lift Eat Repeat July 11, 2012 at 1:05 PM

Raspberries for sure! I picked for a over an hour this past weekend and got a milk jug full! I’m hoping grandma will let me come over every weekend and pick! :)

Sam @ Better With Sprinkles July 11, 2012 at 1:21 PM

First off – that hat is too freakin’ cute.

And my favourite berry? Definitely blueberries. I’ve got two HUGE containers in the fridge right now and have been eating them on a twice-or-three-times daily basis. :-)

I go for a lot of runs and walks outside, but I’ve never done any sort of outdoor circuit/strength training workout. Might be trying that workout of yours sometime!

Hey girl! I am back in action with reading your wonderful blog.

My life has been a bit tipsy… but I am enjoying life once again and working on my binging problem!

I think it is awesome to share work outs because it keeps YOURSELF in line and it is a way to share with YOURSELF and decide what is working for you.

Same with recipes… it keeps your lovely ideas in a safe spot (your blog) so def keep it up!!

I love berries… (but love apples and bananas more)… but if I had to choose one…. hm…. blackberries! Yum! Especially in yogurt!!!!!!!! <3 <3

What is your favorite fruit beside berries?!

Love you and so glad you are safe!! Muah xooxoxoxox

I love working out outside, nice to be out in nature, appreciate the sights and get some fresh air in the lungs. Nothing worse than a stuffy gym! I think blueberry would have to be my favourite, it’s a tough choice though as I love them all!

Paige @ Running Around Normal July 11, 2012 at 3:06 PM

Haha that tea must be gooood!
I love working out outside – I mean I worked out at the playground the other day lol

Reply

Lisa July 11, 2012 at 3:18 PM

I don’t usually workout outside, unless its really nice out and I just can’t stand being indoors. I do like when you share your workouts lady!
And I have 2 favourite berries, strawberries and blueberries! Love them. I don’t like raspberries for some reason

StoriesAndSweetPotatoes July 11, 2012 at 3:48 PM

My favorite berry is probably the raspberry. I don’t like them in shakes though, I like to eat them plain like little gummy bears :) Ohh but I love blackberries too!!

Laura @ Sprint 2 the Table July 11, 2012 at 3:56 PM

Step ups KILL me! my trainer had be doing them weighted last night and I was just praying for them to end. Which means I need to do more of them. LOL!

Cottage cheese in smoothies is the BEST! I need to do it with berries – I’ve only tried it with my zucchini bread creations. I bet it would be good with peaches too!

Love you!

I *really* love the look of this workout! Seriously, this exactly my kinda thing, and I cannot wait to give it a shot tommorow:), thankyou Meg.
I’d have thrown a tantrum if I lost the video! Technology can be a pain sometimes- are you planning on shooting the video again?

Cottage cheese is fabulous in smoothies! That recipe looks delish, although I’d have to replace the raspberries with bloobs or strawbs- I can not deal with rapberry seeds, even though I think they taste awesome:(.

I love endurance activities outside, but I still haven’t done much strength stuff out there. I’m hoping to take advantage of the better summer weather in Denver to set up my TRX outdoors more often. Or just take my general workout out there!

Anna @ The Guiltless Life July 11, 2012 at 7:12 PM

I LOVE using cottage cheese in shakes! They just give it that ideal cheesecake/milkshakey flavour. I love the look of that workout too, hardcore!

LOVE to work out outside! Hopefully we’ll see a workout video soon! Boo to the techy issues :-(

Berries … hmmmm… strawberries I think! And I know it isn’t a berry but I LOVE prunes!

Megan @ Weddings and Workouts July 11, 2012 at 7:39 PM

Raspberry Cheesecake? Ooooh that’s sounds incredible :-)

Love the workout – I love it when you share workouts :-) I don’t work out outside ever really, apart from walks or runs.

My favourite berry is raspberries fo sho!

I would workout outside if it wasn’t so hot!! This workout looks awesome!

Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin July 11, 2012 at 8:41 PM

Haha you would make your first stop in London be David’s Tea! ;) What flavours did you get? I had the organic North African mint yesterday and loved it! FYI I decided the chances of there being cross contamination with nuts in David’s Tea is VERY small, so I’m just going to take the risk from now on!

Also that workout looks awesome! And I love the idea of doing it outdoors. I love running/biking outside, but I’ve never done a strength training workout outside. I’m too self conscious to do it at a park or something… but in my backyard would be good!

Okay, I have a serious case of hat envy!! LOVE! I can’t wear hats well… I have a big head. Seriously! My man and I joke about how, if we ever have kids, they’ll be cute little bobble-headed babies. :-)

And thanks for the workout! I really love when people post their workouts because it gives me inspiration. I’m gonna go pin it now for later!

Have a wonderful trip with your mom, and safe travels home. :-)

I LOVE working out outside if I can! If it is freezing cold, then I will stick to the treadmill or gym :-)

It’s so hard to pick a favorite berry, but I think I have to go with raspberry. But I love them all!

You know I LOVE your workouts, pretty lady. They always leave me so sore, which is exactly what I need! I was actually just trying to decide on a workout for tomorrow- this one sounds perfect. I can’t wait!

And I’m dying to try David’s Tea! Your posts have me dreaming about it. (:

I love working out outside but right now it is too darn hot. It’s been about 112 degrees outside for days now and it’s not getting any cooler.
I like it when you share workouts because it gives me ideas on how to spice up my work out routine.
My favorite berries are raspberries by far. They are just so juicy and delicious!
Have fun in London!
