WIAW: New Schedules

by Meg on July 18, 2012

Good morning loves! I am so excited about this week’s WIAW because I have two new schedules to talk to you about today and a lot of yummy food pictures to share, so let’s get this party started! :)

As always, thanks to Jenn for hosting!

Life

I have recently started to work a lot more than usual lately. Before, I was working whenever they desperately needed me as I was focusing mainly on my summer course; however, Yorkton was recently flooded which results in a lot of jobs for us! (I work for a restoration company).
Since I’m needed to work more often, my schedule has changed. Instead of spending my day at home on my studies, I spend it at work :) Along with the change of what I do in a day, the time I workout has also changed! I am adapting to the change very well and I kind of love hitting up the gym even earlier than usual ;)

This is what a typical working day of life (and eating!) looks like for me…

Food

5:45 am - I set my alarm for 5:45, but to be honest I am usually awake before my alarm goes off. It’s like my body knows when my alarm will go off on its own. Such a smart body I have… ;)

6:00 - Breakfast time! On my working days, I have been making my breakfasts the night before and it seems to work very well for me. For the past few days I have enjoyed big pancakes to break the fast :)

lemon blueberry pancake

dark chocolate pancake with fresh raspberries

6:15 - Gym session! My gym sessions last 45 minutes max! It is always a weight lifting session, heavy weights, and starts my day by making me feel on top of the world! :)

7:00 - Post workout shake! I always refuel immediately after my workouts with a protein shake which will contain 1 scoop protein powder & fruit.

Ginger Peach Protein Shake (top right)
Raspberry Cheesecake Protein Shake (bottom right)

7:20 - This is when I arrive at work! I get my gear on and set out on the job!

9:00 - At 9:00 I have a chance to grab my morning snack which is a combination of a lean protein & complex carbohydrate!

brown rice and basa

12:00 - Lunch time! My lunch consists of a protein, complex carbohydrate, and a healthy fat!

3:00 - Mid-afternoon meal! This meal includes the same as lunch – protein, complex carbohydrates, and healthy fats! Yesterday I had Greek yogurt, buckwheaties, and chia seeds!

5:00 - Work is done! I’m pretty dirty at this point, so I go straight home to shower!

6:00 - Dinner time! This meal consists of protein and healthy fats! Oh, and a lot of veggies! On Monday night, my family and I made lettuce wraps!

But, some times I eat out at restaurants! Like last night! I went out for sushi with a friend ;)

9:00 - Bedtime snack! I usually have my last meal of the day at 9:00, but it all depends on when I go to bed! I’ve been going to bed earlier lately as I have to be up earlier when I work, so I have usually been eating this meal at 9:00.
This meal consists of a protein and healthy fat! I usually opt for casein protein powder & a nut butter. Last night I had casein protein “pudding” with almond butter <3

It was delicious.

So that wraps up my eats for the day, but I would like to note that this is not all I eat in a day. I listen to my body and if it asks for more fuel, I honour that. Like yesterday for an example – on Monday I trained my legs which always leaves me with a ravenous hunger the next day, so yesterday I was hungrier than usual, so I increased my portions throughout the day.

Gotta fuel bod ;)

I would also like to add that I do not work out every day. I work out five days a week, so two days out of the week I do not go to the gym to lift weights. My eating schedule pretty much stays the same, though! See the above meals minus the post workout protein shake and that’s a rest day’s meals! :)

Remember, your body still needs food on rest days! That’s when your muscles grow! ;)

Fitness

A quick update on my fitness routine as this is changing too! Yesterday I finished my second program from my trainer, so a new one is on its way! I can’t wait to start it! I will receive it this weekend, so I’ll give you more details then :)

And so do YOU!! dang girl, im jealous.. I am in such a rut… i want so bad to get back into fitness (and to look better..thinner.fit).. and to eat healthier, and throughout the day! but i cant seem to stick with it!
what helped you?

haha. and what do you do for work?:)

Hey sweetie! I love your comment! <3 I am doing a post tomorrow just for you to answer your question :) But, on a more personal note about your first question – it takes time love! I began eating 6 meals a day approx. 5 years ago and now my body craves food every 3 hours or so! Some days I don’t feel hungry, but I still eat because I know my body needs it! And if I feel MORE hungry than usual I will feed it more!

I’m not sure why, but I love hearing about other people’s schedules! I can’t wait until I’m back in school in September so I can get back into routine. Ever since I graduated from university, my schedule has been all over the place and unfortunatley so have my meals and workouts. I’m definitely 100% routine-oriented and this past year has definitely been lacking in that department!

Reply

Meg July 18, 2012 at 11:18 PM

HA I love hearing peoples schedules too :)

jessie July 18, 2012 at 9:05 AM

Girl you look adorable in your little work outfit.

Have you posted a recipe for the dark chocolate pancakes? They look so good.. as does everything else, as always!

**I’m usually up at 6.

Sadly I have no gym since moving to Kuwait a few months ago. I never thought it’d be hard to find one, but I was wrong. I am thinking about taking more online classes after our vacation to Greece in September though :)

I always make my breakfast the morning of since it usually is a smoothie haha.

**Also how in the world do you like your WIAW to Jenn’s page??

Reply

Meg July 18, 2012 at 11:19 PM

I’ll post the recipe tomorrow, love :)

and do you mean link?? there is a link down on her WIAW post :)

Meg GIRL you are like the top dog!!!! Bad to the bone!! I admire you for the work that you do. I am a tomboy and don’t mind getting dirty but I’m not sure if I could do your job. Crawling under homes is what would kill it for me. Oh and DANG the MUSCLES are getting NICE! SCORE! Keep up the amazing job.

Oh quick question. I used to ear sushi all the time back in my big girl days so it was always the bad stuff. I LOVE sushi though just haven’t gone in a while because I don’t know what to order. Suggestions?

Thank you and have a FANTASTIC dirty day.

Reply

Meg July 18, 2012 at 11:28 PM

Awwwww you make me smile Luvena!!!!!! :D This comment was awesome!

When going out for sushi I tend to order sashimi (the raw fish), edamame, miso soup, salad with grilled fish….

I will be answering your question more specifically in tomorrow’s post :) But I hope that gives you an idea?? ;)

My mornings start at 5:00 a.m. when I get up to help my husband get off to work. I make his coffee, his breakfast, and pack his lunch. Some mornings I go ahead and make my breakfast then, other mornings I eat later. I work as an accountant and compliance officer for a hospital.

Reply

Sam @ Better With Sprinkles July 18, 2012 at 2:04 PM

Right now I’m unemployed, so I’m loving not having to get to an alarm. I usually try not to sleep in past 9 though!

I used to work overnights so I’m still getting used to waking up at 8 am as opposed to just getting off of work at that time :-)

And because all I have is time right now, I’m good to make my breakfast the day of – I prefer it that way so I can make whatever I’m craving right then.

I set my alarm for 6 a.m. most mornings but, like you, I also tend to wake up about 5-10 minutes before it goes off. I work regular business hours (Mon – Fri, 9-5), so my schedule is pretty much the same throughout the work week.

Totally with you on eating the same/more on rest days – sometimes I find I’m actually hungrier the day after a tough weights workout.

P.S. – I have the exact same tupperware as you LOL!

I still cannot get myself up to work out before work so I do it after, but I am amazed that you adapted to waking up to work out in the morning EARLIER. Props to you! I know I’d certainly like to have my afternoons free after work but at least I don’t have night class right now and I have time to hit the gym then go home for a nice relaxing dinner. Oh sis, I LOVED experiencing “a day in the life of Meg”! You’ve told me so much via email, but it’s even more fun to see it all in pictures! <3

I've been loving my casein lately! Fudge-form is my go-to, but now I'd like to try pudding! It looks SO good.

I always make my breakfast in the morning, but I'm pretty sure that will change once I have a full-time job! Right now I'm focusing on savoring my last summer vacation, and that means sleeping in late. ;) I usually sleep till 10:00, but now that I'm home with my mom, I'm getting up at 8:00 or 8:30. She wakes me up early! But I love it because it means more time spent with her! ;)

Love you, sis!! xoxo
