Do you ever have those silly moments when you think "did I seriously just do that?" afterwards?
For some reason, I've been having quite a few of those lately. It seems like my mind is in la-la land or something
For an example, yesterday I used a caluclator to divide 2 into 50. When I saw that the answer was 25 I shook my head and giggled. Silly, silly me.
This silliness carried on to today, but I'm kind of glad it did
You see, I just finished the best workout I've ever had
You see that post workout glow? Yeah, well that is a result of my lack of math skills
(I still have no idea why I was in the advanced placement math program throughout high school??)
My second last exercise in my heavy leg day routine are incline leg presses. I love this exercise and have been working towards my goal of being able to press 200 lbs. ever since I started to train with Tara. Tara helped me set a goal to be able to leg press 200 lbs. by the end of summer, so I've been working very hard at this!
Last week, I was able to press 170 lbs. - so close! So, I thought I would slightly increase my weight this week, but instead of making a slight increase, I accidentally made quite a big increase…
Like I said, my mind must have been in la-la land because instead of adding an extra 20 lbs. of weight in total, I added 20 lbs. to each side! I didn't realize this until after I banged out 8 reps!
That just goes to show you that it is all in your mind. This sign even happened to be in my gym today…
I had no idea I was pressing 210 lbs.. I thought I was pressing 190 lbs. until I took a second glance after I completed my set.
So, I am going to leave you today with a little inspiration…
Pick the heavier weight. Don't tell yourself you can't because that only limits you and you most likely can
Maybe the next time you're at the gym or working out try tricking yourself? Just pick up a weight and do as many reps as possible! I bet you'll surprise yourself
I just want to give a quick shout out to Cait and Heather because I know that they have been pushing their limits in the gym lately and I am so proud of them! <3
Have a great weekend, friends!
What is your workout today?
Have you ever made a mistake like I just did?
What is your plan for the weekend?
Love you xo
Meg

what a great accident!
I’m about to do a body weight circuit and looking forward to it! nothing like breaking a sweat in your own home!
So great, man you are really having some great strides lately! So proud of you.
I am SO PROUD of you!!! On my leg days, I usually workout with my trainer. I purposefully don’t ask how much weight he’s adding to try to count the plates until it over – otherwise I psych myself out.
today is shoulders and glutes. I was having a hard time getting out the door, but you have just motivated me big time. Thank you, Lovie!
hehe we all have moments like those!! that’s AMAZING you pressed 210!!! i mean seriously!??! i did a hot yoga class this morning which was a nice change of pace and it felt good to sweat it all out!
Haha that’s awesome!!!
I haven’t been good about working out since we got back from our cruise. I haven’t been feeling 100%, and I just started a new job (excuses, excuses!). But I finally got outside and ran 3 miles today. It felt SO good!
YOU GO GIRL!!! Your a beast. I am thinking about doing Tara’s plan. I emailed her and I am just waiting for a response. Right know I am doing James’s Wilson’s program and only have 4 weeks left of the first round but he actually created another 12 weeks so I am debating whether to do 12 more with JW or try out Tara. I love your results and you seem enjoy every workout. Ugh I hate being so indecisive. Have a wonderful weekend!!!
So proud of you, Meg! I’ve had silly moments like that, too, like the time I mapped mine and Julie’s run on gmaps-pedometer.com, and I forgot to switch the measurement from miles to kilometres. We ended up running 8 miles instead of 8 kilometres! Haha oops!
You are a ROCKSTAR!! <3 Or should I say, BEAST?
I am so excited for you, sis!! Congrats! Leg pressing 210 lbs is a huge accomplishment. I've made the same mistake squatting; once I added 20 extra pounds and didn't realize it until I banged out 6 reps. It felt heavier than usual, but I just thought I was tired. Nope! Aren't those surprise mistakes the best? <3
I sent you a novel of DM's on Twitter last night; hope they didn't wake you up! <3 Hugs from California! xoxo
Congrats Meg, that is AWESOME! I do that a lot when I’m increasing weight and only realize after I totally overshot what I thought I was doing. Just proves it really is all mental. Just think “I’m going to do this” and you’ll do it
Oh my goodness, that’s awesome Meg!!
My math skills tend to be that bad on a regular basis – now I just have to hope I do the same thing!
Today was Livefit day 61 – back, biceps, abs and sprints on the elliptical. To put it lightly, I am spent.
Nice job on your PR girlie! So funny that it happened by accident though.
Today my workout was doing 10 minutes on 4 different cardio machines plus my physio exercises. I don’t know if my gym was just really hot, but I got super sweaty haha!
Holy crap, you are my hero! 210 pounds is awesome, girl!!! Congrats
That is so exciting!!!! So happy for you! A lot of it really is mental! Sometimes I find if I step away from what I’m doing and then come back to it, I can do what I couldn’t just minutes before
Girl, you rock!! Thanks for the motivation this morning, I just finished a heavy shoulder workout.
Way to go girl!! And what a good reminder to all of us! Sometimes you just gotta get out of your own way.
SO PROUD YOU!! Its amazing what our bodies can really do when the mind doesn’t inhibit us! I’ve made the same mistakes a few times in the weight room over the years–its so cool when you realize what you just did! I did some yummy yoga this morning, but found out my instructor teaches spinning at a new gym nearby–bonus: its called the Raunchy Ride! I HAVE to try this out next week! Love you and once again, YOU ROCK
Great job girl!! I wasn’t going to do my pilates today, but now I’m going to! Love you friend!
Woohoo. So proud of you for that PR and progress! Its amazing how much our minds can hold us back, but we have the power in ourselves to overcome that doubt and make it happen!
That’s awesome! You go girl. 210 pounds?!?!? You’re a machine
I can’t leg press that much, BUT I was a math major in college…and even taught high school math for a semester
I love that story! It’s interesting to wonder how many things in life are actually “all in your head” that we don’t even realize. I can totally relate about the math thing! I took out a calculator to do 2oz. x 7 servings (to calculate the amount of protein in something) and then was like, “Oh…. DUH,” hahaha.
Congrats honey! It’s amazing what you can achieve!
Congrats Meg !!! Im proud of you =)
Haha – I make mistakes like that all the time, so you are not alone in that! Well done on the lifting
WOOHOO!!!! I am SO proud of you!! You’re amazing & such an inspiration. I totally agree with lifting being a mind game.
Happy weekend!
Way to go with the leg press PR!!! awesome Meg!!!
Haha how many times have I told you this!!! Don’t think about the number, just lift it! So glad you reached your goal of 200lbs and had the best workout ever
BABE!!!!!!! I’M SO PROUD OF YOU! You inspire me every single day to push myself (with proper form of course, haha.
). Thanks for the shout out…it really does mean everything to me!
OH baby girl I am SOOOO excited to get a shout out from you about my weights. Whenever you congratulate me I seriously feel such pride because I look to you as a strength training inspiration. <3 you long time.
Wooooo Weeeeee! Congratulations sweets! That is INCREDIBLE! I am so so guilty of having those “duh” moments at the gym….sometimes I feel like I need to start counting on my fingers when I’m trying to figure out my weight increases! Maybe I should just go the pen and paper route…make everyone think I’m just making notes on my sets!
I am definitely one of those women who pushes myself in the gym. No throwing around 5 pounders, but I have to say that I LOVE that we women can also own up to our limits. I can’t tell you HOW many guys I’ve seen in the weight room lifting weight that is too heavy for them and sacrificing form for it. I WILL challenge myself with heavier weights, but if it’s too much, I am not too proud to sit it down and go lower. Wish someone would knock some sense into those testosterone driven muscle heads!
Not going to lie Heather, I definitely bust out my calculator on my phone
