A Day with Dad

by Meg on August 8, 2012

There are a lot of different words that could be used to describe my Dad…

Hilarious, fun, compassionate, caring, understanding, encouraging, and supportive are just a few that come to mind. But, he is also very spontaneous. He's always up for an adventure and I admire him for that.

Today, my Dad and I took a road trip to Saskatoon and planned on being back home in time for dinner, but we were having way too much fun to go home so soon, so we decided to scrap the original plan and stay the night. We had such a great day together and here are some pictures to prove it!

It all started with a perfect lunch at a new-to-us sushi restaurant. My Dad ordered war wonton soup and a maki roll while I feasted on the best sashimi of my life. I ordered off of the al la carte menu and chose mackerel, salmon, and white tuna. Usually I prefer tuna sashimi over any other type, especially white tuna, but the salmon stole my heart today. You can bet your bottom I saved it for last! I always save the best for last ;)

This sashimi was so incredibly delicious that I would have felt awful if I didn't share with my Dad, so I gave him a taste.

Ok, you caught me… I wouldn't have felt that awful if I didn't share ;)

I think his taster reflects that.

Just as some of you feel like shedding tears when finishing your PB & Peggs, I felt like crying when my sashimi was all gone…

After lunch, my Dad and I departed for a bit as he had some business to do. I kept myself occupied, though. Saskatoon has the best shopping in all of Saskatchewan you know? ;)

I tried on a lot of TOMS (more than I would have liked to) and couldn't find a pair that fit my Cinderella feet. I swear they changed their shoe sizes since the last time I purchased a pair because I couldn't even fit into their size fives. As embarrassing as it is, I had to try on a size 3 of the "children's" TOMS. I just couldn't bring myself to purchase a child's pair of shoes, so I left the mall TOMless.

Don't feel too sorry for me, though. I did hit up Lululemon and walked out successful ;)

Dinner was at another new-to-us restaurant recommended to me by a friend. My Dad and I both ordered a Greek salad topped with chicken breast.

The rest of our evening was spent downtown. I forgot how beautiful this city is.

Today was a day that I can easily call perfect because I spent it with one of my very best friends, my Dad <3

How cute! You may not have purchased Toms, but lululemon is better in my opinion ;)

I don’t think I’ve ever left lululemon unsuccessful! It’s kind of a problem ;) I do love the sparkly toms! I’ve never tried them on but I have trouble getting shoes to fit me too so I understand! It can be super frustrating! It’s so nice that you are so close with your Dad and you were able to spend the day together! There really is nothing better than family time!

What a fun day and I love that you were spontaneous and extended the trip.

I actually haven’t found Toms that really fit me either. I tried 6 through 7 and they all seemed either a little big or a little small. I wonder if you buy on the smaller size and they stretch out? :)

They stretch SO much! That’s why I would never want to buy a pair slightly big

Sounds like such a fun father daughter day! And that salmon sashimi DOES look good. I can just tell from the pictures! :D Can you believe that in a little over a week we’ll be feasting on sushi together in Boston!?

That’s so sweet!

Although, I wish I had your dainty feet – I wear a size 9!

Ahh size 3?? Oh my gosh you’re the cutest little thing. I couldn’t even dream of fitting into size 7 (in women’s) so I got to say, I’m quite jealous of your Cinderella feet.

You’ve got me craving sashimi now!

It really was a PERFECT day! The sashimi looks absolutely amazing. I always go for ahi tuna, but occasionally mix it up with salmon or albacore. Whatever is most fresh is best!

I feel your Tom’s pain, sis. Except I have a very different problem! My feet are super narrow and super flat, so they slip right out of the shoes! I have huge feet (9.5), but I can’t seem to find any flats that work, unless they have elastic around the edges. BUT, while I was in Berkeley, I tried on another pair of Tom’s (the 54738 time), just for kicks, and they fit! I am now a proud owner of a black pair. I think their size changes actually helped me. I wouldn’t feel ashamed about buying kids sizes; nobody will ever know!

p.s. you are radiating!! <3 xoxoxo

Aww, you and your dad seem to have such a great relationship! And it looks like you did in fact have the PERFECT day! I’m not sure it gets any better than good food, good company, and city views like that!

I’m not a HUGE fan of sashimi…I like more flavors and textures in my bites, but I’ll have to be on the lookout for mackerel…never tried it before!

I have a pair of the silver glitter Tom’s! They are actually the ONLY style that fits my big feet! LOL

Yup, I sure love my Daddy :) He’s great ;)

I love sashimi. I just loooove that flavour of JUST fish. INCREDIBLE. Mackerel is super fatty and they leave the skin on. I love it.

The glittery Toms are so cute! Wow, you have really little feet – are you quite short, or do you just have teeny tiny feet? My feet are size 8, so I can’t even imagine squeezing them into a 5 (or a 3)!

HAHAHAHAHA this comment made me LAUGH! I’m 5 foot 2, so kind of short?? And I have oddly small feet haha!
