Yesterday's HFF blew me away! You all are so incredible. I don't even know where to begin to thank you for your support! The new HFF hashtag was being used all day which made me a very happy girl
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
The vibes I get from everyone on HFF's are so empowering and really prove to me why I do what I do. I have a huge passion for showing others how amazing they truly are! So, again, thank you for the love surrounding HFF and let's keep it growing because there is always something to high five ourselves about!
Today, I'll be recapping another amazing presentation that I attended while at the Healthy Living Summit in Boston. The third presentation I chose to go to was about Becoming the Blogger in Your Neighbourhood. This presentation discussed how to get our blogs known within our local neighbourhood and area by reaching out in ways others than blogging.
To be honest, I didn't take too many notes during this presentation, but that was only because I was so amazed at what these three girls have done to promote themselves and their blogs within their neighbourhood!
The entire presentation got be so excited to move back to London and show that city what I have to offer
The few notes that I did take down during this presentation were:
Don't be afraid to reach out to them!
Basically, we shouldn't be afraid to ask! Like I mentioned in a previous post, bloggers are valued! If you are wanting to become involved in the media, don't shy away. As the saying goes, "you don't know until you ask!"
At least we use that saying in my house…
Make yourself known!
This particular topic made me really excited to go back to London! During the presentation, the girls spoke about letting restaurants, brands, etc. know if you visited them or tried their product!
For an example, the next time you go to a restaurant try tweeting about it! Tag the restaurant within your tweet and tell them that you were there! Perhaps even go a step further and blog about it! Write a review of the restaurant and give the restaurant the link to your review! Who knows where this could lead you next!
It's all about making yourself and your blog known!
We are talented individuals and we are capable of so much! I think I really underestimated the power that my blog actually has!
After the girls shared how they are involved within their communities, I began to think "have I done anything to promote my blog?" And then I realized that I haven't necessarily put myself out there as much as I should be! Instead, opportunites have been coming to me instead. I am definitely not complaining that I have been presented with such amazing opportunites without really trying, but think of what A Dash of Meg could be if I was the one reaching out to others?
I have also been recognized by my university, Brescia, in several ways because of my blog…
- I was offered a volunteer position which involved creating a blog for the London Home Economics Association (LHEA) due to my experience with blogging and WordPress.
- I was advised by the president of the Student Human Ecology Association (SHEA) at my university to apply for the Public Relations Executive position due to my love and experience in social media.
- I was chosen to speak on a leadership panel for the Girls LEAD camp which takes place at my university every summer.
- I was also asked to answer interview questions about myself, leadership skills, and my blog for my university's Annual Report. The interview will be published under the Leadership section within the Report.
As you can see, in the short time I have been blogging A Dash of Meg has been noticed a fair bit, but it is my goal to reach out on my own and make it even more well known within London – not just my university (although I am so thankful that they have recognized it there!)
I hope you're enjoying these recap posts! Tomorrow's post will be a recap of the last presentation that I attended which was about social media! Totally my thang
Did anyone think of mean girls when I said thang?
Ok, enough silliness! I'll talk to you tomorrow
Lots of love,
Are you and your blog involved within your local area?
Do you write restaurant reviews when you go out?
What are some goals that you have for your blog?
** Don't forget to email your high five submissions to email@example.com! I've already received four submissions for next week's post which makes me so excited! **
