MIMM: 10/01

by Meg on October 1, 2012

I couldn't think of a better way to start my week and the new month! :)

Let's welcome October and this beautiful Monday upon us with a little Marvelous Monday celebration! :)

Marriage

It's my parents' 29th wedding anniversary today! I think this is pretty marvelous, so I'm sending out a big Happy Anniversary hug to my two favourite people <3

Bison

My trainer requested that I have red meat 2 – 3 times/week, so I bought a bison ribeye steak at the farmer's market on the weekend. I wasn't too sure how I'd enjoy it since I am not a huge red meat lover, but I threw it on the grill and grilled it up! To my surprise, I actually really enjoyed it; especially when I scrambled it with an egg and jalapenos! :)

I now have ground bison thawing for me to cook up tomorrow! I'm thinking I'll make some meatballs ;)

Foodie Friends & Fresh

On Friday, my friends and I went to Toronto for a conference about dietetics. After the conference, we went to Fresh for dinner! I had been to Fresh before with Christina and loved it, so I was really excited to go again! :)

I ordered a salad with avocado, cucumber, tomato, carrot, red pepper, greens, hemp seeds, marinated tofu, and chickpeas tossed in their wild ginger dressing. If you ever come visit me I promise that I'll take you to this restaurant ;) Definitely a favourite of mine!

I was also really happy that they offered almond milk, so I treated myself to a latte made with almond milk. The first few sips were amazing, but then I started to find it too sweet for my liking.

Eggy Oatbran

I've been liking simple breakfasts lately. I haven't made fancy schmancy pancakes or parfaits for a while because I cannot get enough of my eggy oatbran! I cook oatbran with some water and 1/4 cup eggwhites in the microwave for a few minutes and then enjoy it with some almond milk! So simple, but so good!

Beautiful Fall Weather

Today we had absolutely gorgeous weather here in London. Not a cloud in the sky or a breeze in the air!

Pools of Yolk

This was last night's bedtime snack. I was in food heaven! Nothing beats a runny yolk ;)

DAVIDsTEA

I have a hard time not including DAVIDsTEA in my Marvelous Monday posts. Today I sat outside of DAVIDsTEA and worked hard on my homework! I was very productive while sipping their new flavour of the month, Organic Stormy Night. If your wanting to make your first DAVIDsTEA purchase, I highly recommend including this tea in your order! I will be doing a full review of it in the future, but if the flavours of chocolate, coconut, cinnamon, and vanilla are appealing to you, you will love this tea! ;)

Thanksgiving Weekend

It's Thanksgiving weekend this coming weekend here in Canada and I am going home to celebrate with my family :) I'll be leaving bright and early Friday morning and heading back to London on Tuesday, but it's so worth it. I miss these guys way too much.

What was marvelous about your Monday?

Oh my goodness, sis! There is so much to be celebrated in this post!! Happy Anniversary to your two beautiful parents! I am so grateful that they came together to make such an amazing daughter. I know they’re wonderful people because YOU are wonderful. <3

I'm so happy that you loved the bison! It's one of my favorite red meats, but I actually love organic, grass fed filet mignon even more. Have you tried it recently? Sis, I *promise* you'll love it! So tender and flavorful!

Dark and Stormy Night sounds like a dream! (Not a dark and stormy one–a happy one!) :-p How did I miss this tea when I was in New York? I think I'm going to order some. In fact, I'm actually planning on giving David's Teas to all my friends as Christmas presents this year. That's how much I'm in love! Thank you for talking it up so much; I would have never stopped in the NYC store had it not been for you. <3

Your yolk porn always makes my mouth water. And it also makes me miss you!! I'm going to text you tomorrow to set up that gchat or facetime date. Love you! xoxo

This is definitely a marvelous Monday post- so many things to celebrate and look forward to! Congrats to your parents, so cute! I’m not a big red meat eater [don't really care of the taste/ texture] but my husband is… Does bison taste just like red meat [that sounds like a silly question, meaning in regards to texture, etc.] :)

Bison is good, a little tough to chew but good! I love bison burgers and added them to my diet back in June!

I hope you have a great week girl! xo
