High Five Friday #37

October 26, 2012 | High Five Friday | 18 Comments

Happy High Five Friday! 🙂

I received quite a few high five submissions this week, which makes me so happy! Thank you so much for all of your support! I'm so excited to get this party started! 😉

Sarah – "I want to give myself a High Five this week for listening to my doctor and going two whole weeks using my crutches. I am recovering from a stress fracture in my foot that I developed while training for a half marathon. I have never been a good injured runner; often skipping out on whatever recommendation my doctor gives me for recovery. But I'm taking this seriously this time and used my crutches for the entire two weeks. I'm halfway to go until I get this boot off!"

Molly – "I want to give my self a HIGH five for five reasons this week. 1) I started a job at Starbucks (43 hours this week + Babysitting) and I still managed to post everyday on my blog (Talk about time management!!) 2) Having Clara Hughes sign me an autograph after a friend met her and told her about my speech and blog 3) Spending a lot more time with my Mom 4) Being able to eat foods without looking at the nutritional labels 5) Decorating my house with construction paper cutouts for Halloween (Candy Corn, Bats, Witches Hats, Pumpkins and Ghosts) and finishing my Peacock Homemade Costume!!"

Eiren – "I was interested in giving myself a high five for my first ever "vlog" this week!  I did it to sort of raise awareness for Breast Cancer.  I said I would do burpees per like on my page, sort of under the notion that if women and families can go through treatments then I can do some burpees. Then i asked people to see how many they could do! I'm not sure if anyone else actually did any!? But it was definitely out of my comfort zone to do a vlog for the first time!"

Alek – "I'm giving myself a high five this week for finally SEEING progress. I used to be so embarrassed of my twig arms but after lifting only the past month I am seeing actual growth! And other people are commenting on it too!"

Nadja – "I finally faced and made changes to one of my biggest health and nutrition problems this week!"

Meghan – "I actually have two high fives for myself this week:

Tuesday was my 25th and my CrossFit box did a special (brutal) WOD to celebrate my birthday.  I wanted to finish it in under 25 minutes…and I finished in 24:22!
Also, I "stood up" for something on Twitter.  I'm very non-confrontational and often keep my opinions to myself, but a gal I follow was making some unkind generalizations about girls who don't eat.  I replied to her tweets because, while I agreed with her that anorexia is unhealthy, I feel like we need to speak truth to those gals in LOVE without just making them feel judged (especially guilt and feeling judged can cause eating disorders in the first place).  I was glad to have a chance to encourage kindness even though it pushed me out of my comfort zone."
Nicole – "I completed my first 10K at the very hilly Runner's World 10K without taking walking breaks with a time of 1:00:00!"

Corinne – "I was away for the last 6 days on vacation and I want to HF myself for taking the time to relax, not just physically and mentally, but also enjoying whatever foods my body was craving (kind of like your post this week). I had probably a lot more than my fair share of cold treats (I was in hot weather), but came back not only having not gained weight – but actually lost a little excess weight. HF to listening to your body! :)"

As always, thank you for your submissions! 🙂 If you wrote your own High Five Friday post please link up below! 🙂

I would like to give high fives to…

Emily for landing a supporting role in the indie film "It's Dark Here"

Sloane for attending a blogging seminar!

Krysten for cutting back on her coffee intake!

Christine for running the Hot Pink 10k!

Alex for running the Niagra Falls International Marathon!

Kierston for placing 3rd in her fitness competition!

Brittany for beginning a new weight lifting routine!

Caitlin for running the Love Your Body 5k!

Megan for running the Sleepy Hollow 10k!

Morgan for speaking at the ShesConnected Conference!

Kristen, Linz, Amanda, Larisa, Jill, Katherine, Lynda, Erin, and Tina for running the Runners World Half!

Carlyn for running a 5k!

Janetha and Bonnie for completing The Burpee Mile!

Nicole for giving birth to a beautiful baby girl, Olivia Rose!

Jenn for running her very first 5k!

I will be giving myself a high five this week for overcoming several challenges this week. Once again, I've received numerous negative comments on my blog, but I didn't let them bring me down.

Happy High Five Friday! 🙂 Don't forget to tweet all day! I love hearing about your successes and accomplishments! Keep me updated 😉 Use the hashtag #high5fri and tell me why you are proud of yourself! 🙂

Yet another great and inspiring high five post, Meg! I’m sorry you had to deal with negative comments. Really, why do some people have fun in harassing others? Get a life, negative commenters!
