Well it's December 5th and I still haven't said "Happy December" to all of you yet. How rude of me. Forgive me, will you?
Happy Belated December!
With a new month, comes a new tea!
From DAVIDsTEA that is
And if you know me… you know what that means… tea review time!
The new tea of the month from DAVIDsTEA this month is Ceylon Star.
I tried this tea for the first time on Monday and absolutely fell in love…
When smelling the tea, you will pick out notes of chocolate and coconut. Personally, I thought I detected some brazil nuts, too. In fact, it reminded my a lot of one of my favourite teas from DAVIDsTEA, Brazillionaire.
My friend and I taste tested the tea together.
As I do not have much of a sweet tooth, I thought Ceylon Star tasted perfect just the way it was. It is a very smooth black tea. To me, the most prominent flavour was some type of nut, either brazil or walnut, but I could also taste some flavours of coconut and chocolate, too.
My friend, who prefers a sweeter tea, refused to add any sweetener to her Ceylon Star, as well! She also thought it was perfect just the way it was.
Au naturale!
We brewed our teas for six minutes and enjoyed them while doing homework. This tea would be perfect for in the morning, but I could also see myself drinking it throughout the day as well as it is considered to have a "low caffeine" content.
As I said, this tea reminded me a lot of Brazillionaire, a very nutty black tea from DAVIDsTEA, but to my surprise – there is actually no nuts in Ceylon Star at all!
The ingredients in Ceylong Star are:
Ceylon black tea
Star anise
Cocoa
White chocolate
Artificial and natural flavourings (such as coconut)
After reading the ingredients, I was very surprised! No nuts!? The ingredients of Ceylon Star really through me for a loop as I was sure there had to be nuts in it!
Overall, I really enjoyed this tea, but I wish I could have picked up on the flavour of star anise as I love licorice tasting teas! However, I couldn't pick out any licorice notes at all.
I hope you enjoyed today's tea review
See you tomorrow with Thankful Thursday!
Love always,
Meg xo
P.s. don't forget to email me your high fives for High Five Friday! I have one submission so far and am looking for more! For more information about High Five Friday and the high five submission process please read the High Five Friday page.

I so wish I was a tea person, but I'm too hooked on coffee. I think I just need to find a good flavor! Can't wait for HFF, I'll be writing my post soon
Ohh, I'll have to try this one next time I'm there, which will likely be tomorrow:) Love you! Let's chat when your exams are over love!
Sounds amazing! The new David's Tea just opened in downtown Calgary a couple of weeks ago, so I have one on my doorstep now! You could have been picking up the coconut – when mixed with other flavours, coconut can lend a really nutty taste to things!
Can't wait to try this at work on Friday!!!!
You always get me so excited for new teas!!!
