01/17: Thankful Thursday

by Meg on January 17, 2013

When I woke up yesterday I knew it was going to be a good day. I just knew it.

Do you ever get that feeling?

I slept in until 8:00 am, got out of bed feeling fully rested, and had a delicious breakfast which was accompanied with a side of blog reading. Everything was perfect. I had the morning all to myself – to do anything I wanted, so I took advantage and did whatever I pleased. To no surprise, I spent my morning cooking. Definitely my favourite way to spend my days – in the kitchen. I cooked chicken breasts to have on hand for the next few days as well as turkey burgers and meatballs. I’ve been craving meatballs lately and they will taste delicious on top of my roasted spaghetti squash ;)

After a full morning of cooking, I started to get ready for the day (even though it was half over). As I got ready, I noticed some serious progress looking back at me in the mirror. It was clear to me that my arms have grown – I felt very muscular and I loved it! So, I had a little photo shoot (please tell me you do this too?)

Noticing my progress got me all fired up for my upcoming workout! It was an exciting day for me because not only was it back day (my favourite training day), but it was also weigh in day!

Last week I mentioned my gains have been slow, so my personal trainer and I sat down and developed a serious meal plan for me to follow in order for me to reach my goal weight. I have been following this meal plan to an absolute “T” for the past two weeks and was about to see the results through a weigh in.

I wanted nothing more than for the scale to go up. If the number remained the same I knew I would have been extremely frustrated, so I was praying for an increase. Any increase at all.

My workout took place from 1:00 – 1:50 pm and, since I don’t sweat during my workouts, I was weighed after. Nearing the end of my workout I could tell my trainer was getting a bit anxious – he really wanted to see the scale go up, too! He said, “Even if it’s just a pound! That’s all I ask!”

Well, I got on that scale and it was three pounds. I went up three pounds over the past week! I looked over to my trainer and his eyes were all glossy. He gave me a huge hug and then we both let out some tears.

I am so proud of myself, all of my handwork, and my determination. I am so proud. I was also very right, Wednesday was a very good day. I think I smiled the entire day after my weigh in ;)

Not only am I proud of myself, but I am thankful for the many people in my life who have been supporting me along the way. My Dad, Mom, boyfriend, and many other close friends who’ve been helping me along the way all congratulated me with supportive and loving texts :) It was amazing and I am so so thankful.

Gosh, life is good.

Here’s what else I am thankful for this week:

Wednesday, Jan. 16 – Gaining three pounds and the amount of support and love I received from my family and friends :)

Thursday, Jan. 17 – Hanging out with my friend Katie later today. I haven’t seen her in an embarrassingly long time – I am very excited to catch up with her!

I hope you all can find some time to reflect on this week and pick out some things that you are thankful for, too! I guarantee you’ll feel amazing after doing so :) I always do!

Love you all!

Meg xo

Girlfriend, 3 pounds is awesome!! But you know what would also taste good with those meatballs? SPAGHETTI! I’ve been eating spaghetti squash because I’m trying to lose weight and it does taste great, but if you’re trying to gain, girl go for the real stuff! With all the workouts you’re doing, you could sure use it! You could fix whole wheat and mix in some spinach to up the nutritional content. You look great, just never forget that your body needs FUEL to keep it up!
Congrats on the progress sista :)

Meatballs on top of roasted spaghetti squash is one of the best combos ever, so meaty and definitely a great ‘comfort’ food. As for your awesome gain, great job Meg! I’m SOOOO freakin’ proud of you! Keep working hard girl :)

:D I’m soooo proud of you. I know you are so determined and you see your goals in front of you always and are so ready to do what you need to do to get there. And the best part is your goals are founded upon your true PASSION and HAPPINESS, not feeling like they “should” be your goals. Man oh man I’m thankful on this Thursday to be able to congratulate you and also to have you as inspiration to me that eating more does not equate to fat! <3 you Meg!
