Good Thursday morning beautiful friends of mine!
I’m just sitting down to eat breakfast before I head to the elementary school for the day. I’ll be working there as a part of my field study course. We are conducting surveys today to see how well our program was implemented and to learn if any knowledge about physical activity or healthy eating was gained throughout the year so far.
I worked at the school yesterday, too, and am so thankful for this opportunity! I loved working with the younger children and seeing their eyes light up when talking about the meals they had and the activities they took part in over the past few days.
As always, Thankful Thursday is the time of the week I share what else I’ve been thankful for, so let’s get sharing!
Friday, Feb 22 – Going on a peaceful walk in the evening with my boyfriend. There wasn’t a breeze in the air – it was absolutely perfect!
Saturday, Feb. 23 – A delicious dinner made by my boyfriend just for me! My favourite part was the fruit chutney he whipped up with no hesitation at all! It was made with apples, mangoes, onion, brown sugar, and jalapeño jelly. I’m thinking he should start writing recipes for A Dash of Meg
I’ll work on him…
Sunday, Feb. 24 – Having brunch at a roadside diner with my boyfriend. We both ordered broccoli and cheddar omelettes. They were good, but nothing compared to the meals he makes me at home!
Monday, Feb. 25 – Talking to Jamie for the first time! I had a 15 minute phone call with Jamie so we could “meet” and chat before her Intuitive Eating Challenge starts in March! I’m so excited to be involved in this challenge and I know it will only bring good things <3
I want to update you more about my IE journey and the talk I had with Jamie, so keep your eyes peeled for upcoming posts!
Tuesday, Feb. 26 – The two hour FaceTime conversation I had with my Mommy <3
Wednesday, Feb. 27 – New friendships. This year I was blessed with two amazing new friends and yesterday they showed their support and love for me <3
Thursday, Feb. 28 – Rest! Normally, I go to yoga on Thursdays with my friend Emily, but last night I was feeling exhausted and new yoga at 6:15 am wouldn’t be the best decision. So, I’m taking it easy this morning, listening to my body, and giving it the rest and extra sleep it was asking for!
Before I leave for today, I’d like to address something and, hopefully, put it to an end finally.
Just as anticipated, Tuesday’s post received quite a bit of attention as well as many negative comments directed toward me. But then, Wednesday rolled around and I was still receiving hurtful comments. In my eyes, the negativity is getting ridiculous and needs to stop.
I published all of the rude comments I received, but then I thought to myself…
I always say A Dash of Meg is a place for positivity!
So, I went ahead and deleted all of the negative comments that were made yesterday.
I hesitated doing this at first because I know I will be told that I’m handling the situation in an “immature” and “irresponsible” manner, but this is how I want to deal with it and I’m ok with that. As my close friend, Kasey, always says “Be true to you!” And this is me being true to me!
So, here’s to A Dash of Meg! A blog that will document my life, the positives and negatives (because my life is not perfect), but it will never be the host of an online battle. Only online love
Have a great Thursday, friends! I love you all!
Meg xo

It really upsets me that you are receiving negative comments! Haven’t these people heard “If you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all?” I am glad you deleted them. There is enough negativity in the world! Keep up your positivity:)
Thanks love
Yes we ALWAYS have some type of battle so good for you on deleting the negativity! So fun you get to work with kids and nutrition!
I’m really enjoying it!
i’m thankful for great friends like! i’m also thankful this week is almost over and itz been loaded with parent-teacher conference. itz fun sharing all the great things about my students with the parents, but it just makes for a long week!
I’ve been thinking of you so much! Working in an elementary school this week adds to my Linz thoughts
I love it
Stay true to you. By putting your life online, you’re subjecting yourself to negative comments and feedback from readers out of concern, jealousy, or just plain negativity, but you also have an entire community of support who wants to listen, help, and learn from you. If positivity is what works for you to maintain a healthy mindset, then so be it. Do what you do need to do for you and nothing else.
Thanks Sarah!
Great post, Meg! I’m excited to see how the intuitive eating challenge goes. I think it’s awesome that you’ve accepted a challenge that might be out of your comfort zone, but what’s life without its obstacles? We only learn from them
. This week, I’m thankful for having a few days off of work and the beautiful weather. I got to take the dogs for a few walks on the trail behind my house, and it’s been so nice and calming!
Ahhhh lucky you! Enjoy that beautiful weather!
Love you, Meg! I hope those people find something better to do with their time than waste it hating on someone else. Hang in there, girl! Looks like you have lots to be thankful for
YOU GO GET IT GIRL!!! Be PROUD, Stand TALL, Walk STRONG!!!
Love this. I am thankful for my family they are so supportive!
You are adorable Meg. I LOVE your Thankful Thursadys. I LOVE your honesty. I LOVE your ability to see the good! And I LOVE you!! So happy to feature you today – - you are a rockstar Healthy Chick!
I love being called a Healthy Chick! SO HONOURED
Don’t apologize for deleting negative comments. I’m not clear what this whole situation was about, but this is your house!!! If people are dumping their trash in it, show them the high road and don’t apologize for it.
People are entitled to their opinions. It doesn’t mean you have to be a platform for them.
Thanks Caren!!!!
Ah, I wish the negative comments would stop for you! Unfortunately, people don’t always have compassion in their hearts.
They say let your haters be your motivators…and you’re doing just that. Motivation to keep up a positive attitude and be the always kind person you are.
Love all that you’re thankful for! Have fun today at your program!! Want to skype again this weekend?!:)
Thanks for the amazing tip, Lisa! I MISS YOU
And this weekend doesn’t work. Maybe next week? I’m never really avail on the weekends lol
Oh Meg, I’m late to the game, but I can’t even find the record people are talking about. http://www.kiiitv.com/story/16574968/10-year-old-girl-breaks-world-squat-record
That’s what I’ve read as the record. Which ,no offense, your PR is so impressive! I’ve got some pounds on you I’m sure, and can’t squat that much. But I started only squatting 60, and within a year I’m at 150. It’s totally possible, and people are astonished even by me, too. Heck, I squat more than my BF, who has a good foot on me and is double my weight (he admits he’s not trying very hard though).
Always room to grow.
And I don’t know why people think they know how much you weigh either. I don’t know why they think you would lie. You come across as the one of the most sincere and kind person on the internet (and in real life) that I know. It all just makes me sad. Even if they don’t like or approve of what you’re saying, I believe in if you can’t say something nice, don’t say anything at all. I know they are trying to argue (for lack of a better term) what they think to be true, and I didn’t see any name calling, but I just don’t get it. I’m sorry Meg.
I have experienced this negativity in my own life, with my own family– my sister is my biggest hater ever, which makes it even harder. Anything that makes me happy, she finds a way to tear it and me down. I think the best thing you can do is separate yourself. Delete those comments! You have every right to do what you need to protect yourself, when you’re courageously putting yourself out there for the world, being open and honest and sincerely inspiring many people to make healthier choices and actions.
I’m glad you have people in your life, and many readers who won’t go down the negativity road and that lift you up. And your BF sounds like a keeper!
Hugs! xo <3
BEST comment ever. Thanks love
Seriously, thank youuuuuu <3
I am not sure why people think they know me sooooo well either, but I’ll let them think what they do. I know myself what the truth is and I also know that I don’t lie
Thanks for the positivity today babe!
Love you
No problem! You’re very welcome! I always try to remember anything negative someone has to say says more about them than me. You’re awesome! Love you! <3
You’re seriously adorable, love. These posts always put a smile on my face!
And today this made me smile especially big-
“I always say A Dash of Meg is a place for positivity!”
And you’ve managed to stay true to that throughout every conflict and hardship that has arisen. SO proud of you. (:
hahahaha YAY so happy you’re commenting – bringing light to my life each day babe! I LOVE YOU
that omelet looks insanely good!! what a nice boyfriend
girl, lori and i will always have your back! do not let others bring you down. You have come so far…stay strong sis!
xoxo
I definitely think it’s up to the blogger on whether or not to post negative comments, it’s YOUR space and you can do whatever you want with it!
I agree; delete them and don’t bother even mentioning them again on your posts – it gives them power. Keep on with your positivity and love, and making the world a better place
I think you handled the whole thing very well. Bravo. Onto bigger and better things!!!
P.s – are your eggs IN your toast??
Meg! I can’t believe you received such negative comments! Sometimes other peoples’ cruelty truly baffles me. But good for you for seeing past all of it! Nothing comes out of negative comments anyway!
That first picture, is that eggies in a basket?! Only my LIKE FAVORITE BREAKFAST EVER. I love it. Yum yum.
Consider me a follower! <3
x
Oh my goodness, that omelet looks amazing!
You know, negative comments do just that……they make things negative. And really say a lot about the person who is saying them. I think that you are doing a great job!
I am thankful to have a new love in my life. His name is Kevin and he is just simply amazing. I can’t wait to share special moments with him. (he lives in Washington….we met when he came home for Christmas). He’s just great and makes me feel all mushy inside.
Be true to you Meg! You are doing great!
Sending a bit of positivity your way!!!
I absolutely love your blog and you sound like the sweetest person I really don’t know why anyone would do that!!!!
Foget them, Meg!!! You’re doing such a fabulous job and making great strides- you’re such a great role model format of us girls! Don’t stop now. I think we need to remind ourselves that as we Gain, we Grow, and the More that there is to us, the More there is to Love!
