High Five Friday #55

by Meg on February 28, 2013

Happy High Five Friday, friends! :)

highfivefriday

After a long week, I feel like just cutting to the chase and getting this party started!

We have a lot of high fives to get through today, so without further a do… here are the high fives that were submitted to me this week:

Michelle – “I’m officially a Certified Health Coach!  I finished my year-long program at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition this week.  Saying I’m excited is an understatement!  I cannot wait to more actively help others, continue learning about health and wellness, and spreading that information around for all to enjoy.  :)”

Caitlin - “Yesterday in Group Power (my weightlifting class, it’s like Body Pump just a diff brand) I made 2 improvements! I increased my weight during the chest track and could complete almost all the reps. And during the shoulder track I kept my weight the same but completed all the reps, something up until now I haven’t been able to do!”

Katie @ KatieEnPursuit – “I passed my NASM Personal Training Certification Exam

Alyssa – “I’m giving you a MILLION high fives this Friday for standing your ground. Keep smiling and do not let this effect you. You are awesome and always will be.”

Lucie – “I want to give myself a HF, because I stopped chewing sugarfree chewing gums completely. I was addicted to them and chewing all day long and always knew that it is not healthy. So now I did not chew a gum at all since 10 days!”

Nadja – “At the beginning of the Spring semester, i decided to register for a weekly yoga lesson which started earlier this week. On Tuesday, just before going to that lesson i wasn’t feeling it at all: i was tired after a full day of class, i was feeling a bit sluggish and to be honest i kind of fear the unknown and was a bit scared to go try yoga for the first time alone (as none of my friends wanted to go with me). I hesitated a lot but then went anyways and i LOVED it! I felt so happy and relaxed after it and now i’m sure i’m going to go there every week and i won’t miss any lesson! So High Five for going anyways even i wasn’t really motivated at the beginning!”

Amanda – “My high five for this week is that I successfully made it through week one of training for my new position at my job! I love what I’m doing and can’t wait to start applying what I’ve learned in the field! One down, one to go!”

Linz – “I’m giving myself a high five for enjoying down time with my family! While I was sad I didn’t get to do bikram last weekend, I realized that family time and surrounding myself with those who love me is just more important. Like you say, sometimes life gets in the way and that’s ok.”

Heather – “I ran a PR at the princess half marthon on Sunday!”

Lauren – “This week I wanted to submit a high five because I have run 171 km since the beginning of January. Before this year I absolutely hated running and had no stamina. Since signing up for my half marathon I have been pushing myself harder than ever and I am finally seeing an improvement in my fitness. Last night I went out for my longest run to date (in a massive snow storm too) of 13.5 km.”

Molly - ”This week I would like to give a High Five to my sister Caitlin and her husband Aaron! After a long labour, Caitlin delivered Charlotte Pippa (We are calling her Lottie), on Friday February 22nd, adding a fourth family birthday to the week. I challenged myself by eating a piece of cake, as my mom and two sisters had their birthdays on February 18th, 20th and 21st. Weighing 10lbs 1oz. and 23inches long, Charlotte entered the world healthy and full of character. She is following in the steps of her 6’5″ Father! I am so blessed to have her in my life and to finally be an Auntie!”

Tara – “I am going to give myself a High 5 for finishing up my last week of Flexible February hosted by Clare from Fitting It All In.  It has been a little challenging at times, but I have completed my goal of 60 minutes of stretching per week by breaking it up into smaller goals of 10 minutes a day.  It has given me a little more “me” time, and really helped keep my muscles limber.”

Lindsay – “I’ve been so excited about my high fives this week and am so happy to share! After years of avoiding it and being too scared, I finally got up the nerve to donate blood. I feel really great about helping out, and I learned a lot about how much just one donation can help. My second high five is for being nominated for a Liebster Award!! I’ve seen this blogger award floating around, and I was shocked and honored to be recognized among a fabulous group of bloggers.”

Cassie - ”I want to give myself a high five this week for recognizing my limits and standing up for my needs in a difficult family situation, and also on assignments at work. I think sometimes saying no, asking for help, and realizing when something is too much for you shows strength and growth, is empowering, and can be just as difficult as pushing yourself (at least for me), and equally rewarding.”

Meg – “I’d love to give myself a high five for running my 10k time trial… I didn’t let my ego get involved and just ran and chatted with a friend, having a great time and feeling SO ALIVE. Oh, and I finished in 53 minutes!”

Yayyy I love seeing my accomplishment here especially since last night’s Group Power class I did NOT feel my best and was beating myself up for not performing that well. But reminding myself that only a few days ago I had a HFF-worthy class is helping to cheer me up. Thanks baby!

Happy High Five Friday, girl! These are so inspiring and motivating every single week! My high five is for getting through a really tough CrossFit workout yesterday as RX! It included some really heavy power cleans, and wall balls which I usually hate. I’m proud of myself for having the courage to do it, keeping a positive attitude and mentally encouraging myself throughout instead of talking myself down. And I got a good score!
