Good evening, love bugs!
I hope you’re all having a great Friday and are ready for some High Five Friday celebration!
The following high fives have been submitted to me via email (if you’d like to be featured in next week’s HFF please email me at email@example.com and tell me your high five!)
Deana – “My Hive Five Friday is getting to see Meg, her boyfriend, and their dog while walking back to our apartment with my boyfriend. I get anxious when walking outside at night, so it was awesome to see familiar faces! Their dog made me smile!
Katie – “I’m giving myself a high five because I’ve gotten out of my workout comfort zone and tried several GPP WOD’s this week. Your posts on GPP have given me that push to try something new, so thanks very much!”
Jan – “My high five Friday for this week is all the food prep and planning I was able to do for the interstate travel I had to do for work this week and will be doing for the next 6 weeks. This is the mini grocery shop I did for the week:”
Sloane – “My high five is for confronting a coworker about an issue this week. It was so scary, but the conversation really needed to happen, and I think we both grew a lot from it.”
Debbie – “This accomplishment was so small, yet so huge. If you follow me on Instagram you may have already seen this, but I had eaten breakfast before work as normal, upon arriving to work a client had brought in bagels and cream cheese. Now I literally ate probably only 1 1/2 hours before this, but I love bagels and hey it sounded good. But did I really need to eat this soon after a full breakfast? I knew deep down though (after a recent nutritionist appointment of not gaining) that it wouldn’t be a bad thing for me to eat this extra even though I didn’t “need” it. Because even though hunger wise I didn’t need it, I DID need it for the fact I need to eat extra, be uncomfortable, and to gain weight to be healthy. So I slathered a bagel with cream cheese and ate it. Not without the following guilt of eating the “extra”. I fought back though. Reminded myself that I WAS doing the right thing, that it was just a bagel, and that any piece of food should not have that much control over me or my emotions.
It was an eye opener to how I still fear some foods, fear gaining weight (even though I KNOW I need too) and how my ED does still have some control over me, giving me rules, and giving me guilt. I made sure to push and not restrict the rest of the day (although go figure I was just as hungry for lunch as I normally was, guess my body did need that extra after all) and to let it leave my mind.
I actually typically don’t like to acknowledge these accomplishments, because that again gives way too much attention to my ED than it deserves. But hey, we all deserve a high five now and then.”
Lindsay – “Excited to have today off to spend the weekend with my great friends from high school. We haven’t seen each other in over a year, so I’m looking forward to catching up and going to Disney!”
Miss Polkadot – “Once more my High Five is a recovery-related one. I was really anxious before my sister’s wedding knowing I wouldn’t be able to exercise and would have to eat on a completely different schedule than usual. Yet on the day itself I just relaxed, laughed and chatted with many people I hadn’t seen in a while and tackled the wedding buffet without guilt or regret. It was an awesome wedding and I’m so glad fear didn’t keep me from enjoying this marvelous day.”
Brittany – “I’m giving myself a huge high five for taking a longer, less familiar route on a vacation run (in the dreaded Florida heat and humidity!) that ended up totaling almost 6 miles. Seeing as I’m not much of a runner, I was thrilled to have ended with a 9:20 pace after walking through parts of it.”
As always, thank you for participating in HFF!
The following high fives are “surprise high fives”, which are the successes and accomplishments of others that I have taken note of during the week!
