My Magical Moisturizer

by Meg on January 7, 2014

It’s been a couple of weeks since I’ve shared and reviewed one of my favourite skin care products from Lush Cosmetics.

If you’re not familiar with Lush, you can read my introductory post here.

The first Lush product I reviewed on A Dash of Meg was my toner, Tea Tree Water, which is the product I use when I wake up in the morning. I simply spray the toner on my face, rub it in a little, and then lightly dab off any excess liquid with a dry cloth.

After using my toner, I moisturize with Lush’s moisturizer called, Vanishing Cream.

Having combination skin that is on the oilier side, I’ve always felt as though I didn’t need to moisturize my skin, but then I did some reading and found out that if my skin is oily, it’s trying to compensate for something, so I made a few adjustments to my skin car regimen:

- Instead of cleansing my face with a cleanser in the morning and night, I reduced to only using my cleanser at night.

- I began using a moisturizer.

After making these two small changes, I noticed significant results. Although I do have a few pimples here and there between my eyebrows every now and then, it’s nothing like before – my skin is a lot clearer now that I’ve been cleansing less and moisturizing more!

Lush’s Vanishing Cream moisturizer is perfect for those with skin like mine – blemishes here and there – and are in need of some balance!

Vanishing Cream contains lavender, which balances, and witch hazel extract, which eliminates blemishes very effectively.

After using the Vanishing Cream, my skin feels very soft from the grape seed oil it contains and absolutely vibrant!

This cream is very light and doesn’t feel heavy on your skin, which I love. It’s not sticky like other moisturizers I’ve used in the past and it leaves your skin smelling great, too! The scent isn’t too strong, but there is a slight lavender fragrance, which I find to be so comforting!

I use this moisturizer on a daily basis right after I apply my toner and right before I put on my make up.

Do you use a moisturizer? If so, which one? Would you like to try Lush’s Vanishing Cream?

See you tomorrow!

Meg xo

p.s. don’t forget that A Dash of Meg will be celebrating the 100th High Five Friday this week, so please email me your high fives to :D

Ah this is good to know! I think my skin is similar to yours so I may look into this. I always see Lush Cosmetics but never thought to go in. Thanks Meg!

I usually swear by Neutrogena moisturizers because they’re light and not oily and contain some spf, but I really like the sound of this one! I’ve never tried any Lush products but one of their stores just opened up near me so I’ll have to give it a go! I love lavender so that’s definitely a plus!

Meg January 7, 2014 at 12:48 PM

ooooooo go take a peak at the one near you! I switched from Neutrogena too!

I’ve gone into Lush a few times (ie. Pearson Airport) and always say “I’ll get X product this time” but always comes out empty because I can’t seem to get past the prices of their products! This review has given hope that maybe next time will be a winner :)

definitely give something a try! :)

Dominique @ Eat, Pray, Lift January 7, 2014 at 2:56 PM

I might need to try that! Normally I use an all-natural aloe vera gel as my moisturize…but I just ran out, so maybe this is fate! :) And like you, I noticed that my skin became much healthier when I cut down to washing once per day.

Meg January 16, 2014 at 8:59 PM

yay for healthier less oily skin ;)

I don’t think I’ve ever tried LUSH! I’ll have to see if we have one around here!

I use a liquid syrum for my moisturization, after my natural face wash. It’s SO much lighter than what I used to use and took some getting used to, but I love it!

Meg January 16, 2014 at 9:01 PM

i am so happy you found something you love! you have great skin!

Michelle W January 8, 2014 at 12:44 PM

I adore Lush! Their Ultrabland + Tea Tree Water combo saved my face during pregnancy. I currently just use coconut oil as my facial moisturizer, but it’s great to know of other options!

Have you tried any of their shampoos and conditioners yet? I’ve had great luck with 3 of the shampoos, but not so much with the conditioners (yet!).

Meg January 16, 2014 at 9:02 PM

i use the tea tree water too! i look forward to it every morning!

i have only tried a conditioner, but will be trying the shampoo soon! i will write reviews on those for you for sure :) <3
