High Five Friday #102

by Meg on January 24, 2014

I am so happy you thought my Mushroom Cauliflower Rice recipe sounded tasty! I really hope you give it a try this weekend! It was such a comforting side dish to have on a cold winter night! Eddie’s Mom has already requested I make it for dinner next week, but tonight we are making meatza! It will be Eddie’s parents’ first meatza experience, so they are very excited! Make sure you follow me on Instagram to see pictures of my meals! :D

Other than being excited for our meatza dinner tonight, I am also excited for this week’s High Five Friday! :D

highfivefriday

We have a lot of high fives to give today, so let’s get this party started! :D

Deana – “I’m giving myself a huge high five! I’m moving tomorrow (Saturday) within the city as I’ve just gone through a horrible break up and need a fresh start. The break up was incredibly difficult as I also have depression and generalized anxiety disorder and depression. I wrote a blog about my experiences for mindyourmind.”

Ashley – “This Sunday I finished my second half marathon in the last 4 months! I cried when crossing the finish line because I was overwhelmed with accomplishment. I didn’t train for this race because I was undecided up until the last minute. The human body is an amazing thing, I felt great and maintained a 9:13 split for the entire half marathon! ”

Dominique – “Early this morning, I went to the gym to swim.  I’ve never been a strong swimmer, and I hadn’t swam a single lap in more than 5 years…add in the fact that I was wearing a bikini in public for the first time in years (although it was dark out and the were exactly three middle aged men in the pool) , and it was straight up terrifying.  I ended up swimming half a mile!! It was hard, and it was probably ugly, but I felt like a dang champion.  Such a great reminder that sometimes fear – of failure, of embarrassment, of the unknown – is the only thing standing between us and success.  I may not be a strong swimmer, but now I know I’m strong enough to face those silly fears!”

Danielle – “I recently joined a new gym. On Tuesday I braved my fears and tried my first spinning class in two years. I left feeling awesome, accomplished, and so stress-free! I will definitely be back. ”

Kimberly – “I ran two miles today.  Fairly slowly (4.2 mph) but I am not a runner and that’s kind of a huge deal for me.  I also hadn’t run in quite a while and really just wanted to see if I could actually do it. And I did. And it felt great. :) And one of the first things I thought was, “I deserve a high five!””

Jan – “My high five Friday is as of yesterday I can now do a box jump onto a bench at the gym. When I first started them I was worried I wouldn’t make it and would fail miserably so I started out using one of those steps from step class and slowly adding more height. It is a nice feeling to know I can do something that I used to admire other people doing but didn’t think I was capable of myself.”

Shannon – “I finally started running again after a very extended holiday (but much needed) break!”

Miss Polkadot – “It had been a while since my last visit to Berlin and they usually are a good way for me to track my recovery process. Not exercising or moving a lot in general due to the cold weather outside and eating out more than once in a day usually stress me out. But this time was a lot better than last and I was able to focus on the people and experiences instead of dwelling on food. Also, I got to meet another blogger while there which made it even more special. It was an amazing day.”

Lindsay – “This Friday, I’m high fiving a better week of running. I might finally be seeing improvements in my legs, and I’m excited to get back to healthy running. But I’m being smart about it. I’m taking it slow, and hoping for the best every day because that’s all I can do. Happy Friday to everyone!”

Meg -”I’d love to give myself a High Five this week for taking the first steps to get my group fitness instructors certification! I’m nervous but SO EXCITED!”

Sara – “This week I’m giving myself a high five for starting my own blog!  It’s been one of those things I’ve wanted to do for a while, and I’m so excited I’m actually doing it.  I love crafting, cooking and fashion and now I can share my passions with others!”

This week I will be giving myself a high five for completing a week and a half of my new workout program! I was extremely hesitant to change up my current routine and try something I had never tried before, but I am loving it so much, which just goes to show you my favourite saying as a child is so true – “you don’t know until you try!”

I would say this to everyone when I was growing up ;) Especially picky eaters ;) I can’t stand picky eaters!

ok, now it’s your turn!

What’s your high five?

Let me know if you haven’t already shared and for those of you who did submit your high fives this week – thank you so much! I love hearing from you and featuring you in HFF :D

Love always,

Meg xo

My high five would be for cutting my cross training back some this week and taking a full day off today. That may now sound like much but I’ve been over doing it a bit and I knew my body needed to rest and RECOVER!

YAY!! So many triumphs this week congrats ladies :)

I took a peak at your workout program! Love getting new routine ideas glad you are liking it!

My high five for this week would have to be conscious shopping. I usually go pretty crazy when I come to Vancouver but I only bought one item from my favorite store and NOTHING a lululemon because there wasn’t anything that I just HAD to have.

Hi Five to all these beautiful woman and to YOU Meg! :) My high five is for surviving this week while resting (not overdoing it) and staying positive despite fighting sick. It’s a good thing this doesn’t happen very often. :)
