50% More In March & A Giveaway!

It’s a new month and, with every new month, many of us seem to make new goals.

Have you made any new goals this month?

In the past, I’ve made long lists at the beginning of every month of new things I wanted to do, goals I wanted to accomplish, and changes I wanted to make. That was all fine and dandy, but I find that when I focus on one thing rather than a whole list of things, I am more successful. So, for the past few months I’ve just been focusing on one goal at the beginning of each month.

For March, I will be teaming up with Musselman’s as they are introducing their new BIG CUP of applesauce with 50% more (6 oz. vs. 4 oz.) applesauce than their original cup!

So, how will you do 50% more this month?

This month I will be focusing on doing 50% more stretching.


I train four days and have three rest/recovery days per week. I put all my effort into my training days to become stronger, faster, and more fit, but I realized that I wasn’t putting all of my effort into rest/recovery days.

Rest/recovery days are just as important as training days, so I decided to change this and start putting more effort into resting and recovering.

In order to rest and recover better, I’ve implemented foam rolling and a series of hip mobility stretches into my rest/recovery days. This is what my routine looks like:

10 minutes foam rolling (quads, hams, calves, adductor, piriformis, etc.)

Front-to-back leg swings

Side-to-side leg swings

Stand squats

Fire hydrants

Active spiderman stretch

I usually do 10 – 15 reps of each exercise 3 – 4 times.

Since implementing this little stretch routine into three days of my week, I’ve noticed a huge difference in my flexibility, range of motion, and form.

This month i will be putting 50% more effort into implementing more variety into my diet. I find i become very ridged with my food and I really need to get out of my “comfort zone” and introduce foods back into my lifestyle :)

50% more stretching would be a great goal for me. Stretching is usually the first thing to go when I’m on a tight schedule, and I know I need to make more time for it to stay injury free!

stretching and recovery. i suck at resting and need to relax. and make an effort to sleep better. also getting out more even in the cold. :(

My goal is to do 50% more drinking water. I really dislike drinking water in the winter, but have to make more of an effort. I am going to bulk up my herbal tea stock to keep myself motivated to drink more.

I’m going to do 50% more breathing … well, probably not literally :), but I’m working on taking a step back and just focusing on breathing if I feel overwhelmed or stressed or wanting to eat sugar! It’s kind of fun to see how much it works! As for your stretching routine, thanks for sharing – I’m really good at foam rolling consistently, but I’d love to add in the mini-drills that you include!

I am pretty good about getting my workouts in the week, but because of the cold temperatures this winter, my walking has decreased tremendously. But now that the temperatures are warming up, I’ll do 50% more by walking more, including taking stairs, getting off the bus a few stops before I have to, and even enjoy more sunshine while I’m at it! :D

I’m going to do 50% more this month by making sure I take a rest day every week! I need to let my body heal for sure. Also, I am going to focus 50% more on running for my main form of cardio, since marathon season is so close!

Now that I have been trying to incorporate more strength training into my routine, I am definitely going to need to follow suit with what you are saying. I also definitely need to put 50% more effort into actually RESTING.

I could definitely benefit from more stretching and foam rolling. What I really need to focus on is speed work (running) though. Can’t get faster without it!

Sleeping! I need to make sure that I am getting a full 8 hours. I have only been getting 5-6 lately, and it shows everywhere….in my skin, in my workouts, even in how I eat! I need to focus on getting 50% more sleep!

Stretching. I have slacked off on this for quite some time now and decided its needs to be a regular thing again.
I will also be more diligent in actually getting my “rest” day in an only doing some walking and nothing more.

I plan to do 50% more time for myself. I have a 6 1/2 month old at home and have put 100% of myself into him and have slacked off completely on exercising because I thought I was being selfish. With the weather finally clearning up, I’m going to get outside and get moving (taking him along in my new jogging stroller!).

I’m down with 50% more stretching this month, although I haven’t started it yet! The goal I did make for myself already for March is to be a more active friend, to be more generous with my time and energy within my local friendships!

I will put in 50% more effort into taking care of my health. I just found out that I’m pregnant, so I have to keep up the workouts and the eating well, but my stress levels also need to be taken care of!

I will do 50% more running! I have a 10K coming up but the weather has kept me indoors. Unfortuntely I do not think the bitter cold is going away any time soon. It is time to bundle up and get out there!

I agree with you, I will do 50% more by stretching!
I run and lift weights all the time however I feel by stretching I am not getting anything accomplished. However stretching is very important and I need to do it more!

I will do 50% more walks with my dogs. I’m working on healing my gut and am finding that my current workout routine isn’t really conducive to healing so I am going to focus on more walking and lifting weights at a pace/intensity that doesn’t raise my heart rate too high.

50% more…sleeping! Okay, so maybe not THAT much more sleep ;) but I really do need to focus on allowing my body at least an hour more of such a crucial part of life – especially with training the amount I do. Besides that, I’d have to say probably 50% time and focus on finally starting a blog!

I will be try to incorporate 50% of NEW things into my health routine. This includes more yoga classes, more foam rolling, more running (because I’m loving it!), more trying other’s recipes, more reading, and more TEA.

That’s my goal this month as well. I need to work on doing a dynamic workout and stretching on recovery days. Love your new 4 day split routine, I follow something similar. I was just curious if you were doing any cardio on this program?
