Tea Tuesday: The DAVIDsTEA Spring Collection
At the beginning of every new season, DAVIDsTEA releases a new collection of teas and after such a long, bitterly cold winter this year, I was ecstatic once DAVIDsTEA released their Spring Collection on March 5th.
Blue Lagoon is an herbal tea made with pineapple, blueberry, lemongrass, elderberry, cornflower petals, and natural and artificial flavouring.
The smell of this tea is sweet and fruity and when brewed it is just the right amount of sweetness. It’s not overly pineapple-flavoured nor does it overly taste like blueberries, either. The two fruits pair perfectly together to make this refreshing tea for spring!
Cool cucumber is a black tea, which surprised me because I thought with a flavour as light and delicate as cucumber, the tea would be a white or green tea. But, to my surprise (again), this tea is absolutely amazing and doesn’t taste like a black tea at all. It actually tastes as though you’re sipping on cucumber flavoured water. It’s refreshing and perfect as either a hot or cold tea.
The ingredients in Cool Cucumber include black tea, honeydew melon, cucumber, sunflower petals, blue mallow blossoms, and natural and artificial flavouring.
Overall, Cool Cucumber is my favourite tea of the 2014 Spring Collection.
Being a big fan of green teas, I was really excited for Grape Expectations and it didn’t disappoint. It’s a nice green tea with perfect notes of grape tied into it. I like this tea hot or warm and feel that this is the perfect tea to sip all day long on these beautiful spring days we’ve been having lately!
The ingredients in Grape Expectations include organic green tea, raisins, cornflower, and natural grape flavouring. I recommend steeping this tea no longer than 4 minutes or it may become bitter.
A bowl of peaches and cream was a favourite snack of mine growing up. I remember after school as a child, my Mom would cut me up a juicy peach and pour luxurious thick cream over top. So, when I heard that DAVIDsTEA released a tea called Peaches and Cream all of those memories came rushing back to me and I became very excited.
Although this tea is very delicious, sweet, refreshing, and very peachy, I was expecting more of a “cream” flavour like their Lime Gelato tea. However, I still enjoyed Peaches and Cream and think it’ll be a great tea to have on hand this spring!
The ingredients in Peaches and Cream include peach, apple, vanilla pieces, peach crunchy, safflower petals, sunflower petals, and natural flavouring. As you can see, Peaches and Cream really doesn’t contain any tea at all! It’s an herbal tea, which means it is caffeine free, so it’s the perfect tea for those watching their caffeine intake!
Pom Tango is a black tea that DAVIDsTEA brought back from last year’s Spring Collection. I thoroughly enjoy this tea iced, but is great hot, too, and I love the fact that this tea isn’t bitter like some pomegranate teas I’ve tried in the past.
Pom Tango contains mango cubes, black tea, pomegranate, and artificial flavouring. I think the mango is the perfect addition of sweetness to this tea and really makes it taste like a juice rather than a black tea.
Overall, I’m thoroughly impressed with the 2014 Spring Collection. So, if you’ve been wanting to try it or buy yourself the 5 new teas, I recommend you do so now! It’ll get you excited for spring and gain hope that this winter is soon coming to an end
